Splice Machine Hosting Bay Area HBase User Group Meetup
November 28, 2016
Splice Machine is hosting the Bay Area HBase User Group Meetup on Thursday, December 8, 2016. The meetup will start at 6:30pm and will be held at the Splice Machine Office.
In honor of some friends visiting town, the HBase Meetup has a great schedule set for the event, featuring several speakers over the course of the evening. Speaking first is Ohad Shacham of Yahoo! Research who will be discussing the update on the state of Omid2, the Transaction Manager that runs over HBase currently in Apache Incubator. Next, Shangsheng Tung, Sean Broeder and Narendra Goyal of Esgyn will present a quick update on the transactional support for HBase tables by Apache Trafodion, which will be followed by Anastasia Braginsky of Yahoo! Research who will show us Accordion: HBase In-memory Compactions. Lastly, Vladimir Rodionov of HortonWorks will be demonstrating how to perform an HBase Backup.
In addition to all of those speakers, Splice Machine will also be presenting what’s new with it’s use of HBase including combining columnar and row-based support, in-memory caching and sketching. Although, if you are interested in speaking at the event, reach out through the event page on Meetup and they can add you to the lineup if your topic will be interesting and benficial to the HBase Community.
As always, we will be providing beer, pizza, and swag so be sure to RSVP today!
